Earth Day Celebration

Apr 24, 2012

We had a super fun event at the park. Thanks for sharing it with us every year MUD.

Our activities consisted of constructing 3-D rainforest puzzles courtesy of Plan Toys, coloring with our new eco-pencils and beeswax crayons, and (the most exciting part) an egg carton scavenger hunt. We re-purposed egg cartons by painting the insides with a dollop of each color we had on hand. The kids took an egg carton and walked about Caras Park and filled the cartons with bits of garbage that matched each corresponding color.

It was so exciting to see each egg carton come back to us. The kids came up with the most amazing bits of nature and trash - and while they were focused on filling their cartons they were picking up the park (bit by bit). The earth loved this scavenger hunt!

The kids loved it too because their prize was the most amazing green tote, also courtesy of Plan Toys and the sweetest wooden tree-topped pencil.

Happy Earth Month! If you'd like to see the rest of our album please visit our Facebook Page. If you find someone you recognize please feel free to tag them in their photo.

The dollhouse's energy efficient design includes a wind turbine, a solar
cell panel and electric inverter for generating electricity, a rain
barrel for collecting rain, a biofacade, which uses the natural cycle of
plant growth to provide shading, and a blind that can adjust the amount
of sunlight and air circulation. Also, recycling bins are included in
